VIDEO: Paul Wright discusses progression of his work

Paul Wright

A few weeks ago we visited Paul Wright in his Leicester studio and talked everything from focus and prioritisation through to his amazing work ethic and painting style. We shot quite a bit of footage, but here’s our first condensed version – Paul discussing his early work and progression to present day.

Remember to check out Paul’s work right here on Curator.

  1. Think this is a superb idea,as a customer and part time artist. Just being able to scan through the art and then focus in on all thats going on with the paints, intended or not is fantastic.Thanks.Wonderful pieces.

  2. I’m glad i had looked at the art before viewing the video.I think it will be fascinating to anyone like me who found art later and extremely helpful and inspirational for the younger ones who are wondering if they’ll ever be taken seriously art wise? I would have preferred either a straight to camera type of interview or at least a glimpse of the interviewee,or maybe whilst he painted. What was said made a lot of sense though and it looked professional.

  3. Thanks Gillian, we really appreciate your kind words and feedback. This video is just 3 minutes of a much longer and in depth interview we had with Paul.

We’ve worked hard to cut it into easily digestible segments where Paul gave some really powerful insight into his career and work – as many people are put off by longer interviews with a lot of ground covered.

Hopefully we’ll get more of these out very soon so keep coming back!

  4. As an artist and an art teacher, this is the type of video and artist I want to showcase to my students. I want them to learn about the experimentation and the strive to evolve and challenge oneself, which is too often lost on the younger generation. I absolutely love gestural work like this and I hope to see more of it on the Curator. Thank you so much for having made this available to me!
