Mozart – The Source (Inner Life Series 2010)

This painting is one of the Inner Life series which depicts different aspects of the internal human landscape. It contains an optimistic sense of how life can be full of joy and light. It was inspired by the music of Mozart. The artist employs the whirling technique to produce the outer image, contrasted against the textured centre around the inner source of light. He created this style of oil painting by adapting the forms of traditional Turkish marbling, which is a water based technique to imprint designs onto paper. The result in oil generates a similar visual effect to marbling although the technique is entirely different.
